The anchor started at 54 meters above the water and traveled to 9 meters below the water:

    54 + 9 = 63

The anchor traveled a total of 63 meters.

    Divide distance by time:

    63 / 35 = 1.8

The anchor traveled 1.8 meters per second and was moving downwards so it could be written as - 1.8 meters per second.
