    change these to improper fractions

    5 4/7 = (7*5 + 4) / 7 = 39/7

    -2 2/5 = - (5*2+2) / 5 = - 12/5

    39/7 * (-12/5)

    = - 468/35

    now change back to a mixed number

    35 goes into 368 13 times (13*35 = 455) with 13 left over
