    Given:

    Width 12 inches

    Height 2 feet

    Volume 72 cubic inches.

    Volume = Length * Width * Height

    We need to find the length of the box. But, we need to convert the height from feet to inches to find the length in inches.

    1 foot = 12 inches

    2 ft * 12 inches/1ft = 2 * 12 inches = 24 inches

    Height should be 24 inches or less.

    H < 24 inches

    V = L * W * H

    72 inches³ = L * 12 in * H

    72 in³ : 12 in = L * H

    6 = L * H

    Given the measure of 6 inches for Length and Height, these can be the combination:

    1 * 6 = 6

    2 * 3 = 6

    V = L * W * H

    72 in³ = 1 in * 12 In * 6 in

    72 in³ = 72 in³

    or

    72 in³ = 2 in * 12 in * 3 in

    72 in³ = 72 in³
