A circle of radius 1 inch is inscribed in a square. find the exact area of the square not covered by the circle. Show work

    Ok first figure out the area of your square. since the circle is tanget to all 4 sides of the square we can determine that the diameter of the circle is the same length as the side of the square, 2 inches.

    area of square = 2x2=4

    next the area of the circle which is know as πr^2

    area of circle = π1^2

    now take the area of the square minus the area of circle and you have you anwser

    4 - π when simplified radically expressed
