    Each one cost $21.

    $240-$72=$168

    $168/8=$21

    original-statues=amount left

    original=240

    amount left=72

    statues=cost per statue times cost per statue=c times 8=8c (if we use c as the cost per statue)

    240-8c=72

    minus 240 from both sides

    -8c=-168

    divide both sides by - 8

    c=21

    each statue cost $21
