a rectangle is drawn so the width is 2 inches longer than the height. if the rectangles diagonal measurements is 49 inches, find the height.

    If H represents height, then H + 2 represents the width since the width is 2'' more than the height.

    Now the diagonal divides the rectangle into two congruent right triangles. Thus we can then solve for the height H using the Pythagorean theorem, where the diagonal is of course the hypotenuse side of the right triangle
