Johnny has $12 less than Sarah. Sarah has $35 less than Carla. In total, they have $143. How much money does each of them have?

    Amount with Sarah = x - 35

    Amount with Johnny = x - 35 - 12

    x + x - 35 + x - 35 - 12 = 143
