A pentagonal prism is cut by a plane perpendicular to the base. What is the shape of the cross section that is formed?

    Perhaps more specific conditions are needed.

    If it is a right prism, then the cross-section must be a rectangle. All of the lateral faces are perpendicular to the bases, and the cutting plane is perpendicular to the bases, so the angles of the cross-section would all be right angles.

    If an oblique prism with irregular bases is allowed, then A, B, D, and E are all possible.
