Let's add 1/4 and 1/3. Before we can add these fractions, we'll need to change them so they have the same denominator. To do that, we'll have to find the LCD, or lowest common denominator, of 4 and 3.

How do you subtract 4/5 - 3/10?
Very tricky ... If you don't know how to do it!
First make them equivalent. 4/5 = 8/10.
8/10 - 3/10 = 5/10
If you want to simplify, it would be 1/2 because we need a number that (in this case) 5 and 10 both go into. They both go into 5 and so divide 5 by 5, and 10 by 5.
You will get 1/2.
