One side of a triangle is half the longest side. The third side is 8 m less than the longest side

Let x, x/2 and (x-8m) represent these sides

    x + x/2 + (x-8m) = 42m

    Solving for x

    5/2x = 50m

x = 20m, the longest side. The other two are 10m and 12m

    Three sides are: 10m, 12m and 20m
