An IV drip was ordered for a patient, an hour after the IV has been administered, the volume of the IV bag was 425 ml. after 4 hours and 30 minutes the volume in the IV bag was 162.5 ml. find the rate at which the IV bag is draining.

    4 hrs and 30 minutes = 4.5 hrs

    (1,425), (4.5,162.5)

    slope = (162.5 - 425) / (4.5 - 1) = - 262.5 / 3.5 = - 75

    the IV bag is draining at a rate of 75 ml per hr
