The number of women at a training workshops was two less than three times the number of men. If 50 people attended the workshops, how many were women?

    Set up a system of equations first

    W: number of women

    M: number of men

    50=w+m

    3m-2=w

    Solve in by plugging in one equation into the other

    50 = (3m-2) + m

    50=4m-2

    52=4m

    m=13

    So if m=13 plug it bag into one of the two equations at the beginning

    50=13+w

    W=37 women
