    The quadratic formula is:

    x = - b ± √b² - 4ac / 2a

    x = - 4 ± √4² - 4 (3) (-6) / 2 (3)

    x = - 4 ± √16 + 72 / 6

    x = - 4 ± √88 / 6

    x = - 4 ± 2√22 / 6

    Simplify the equation by factoring out the 2.

    x = - 2 ± √22 / 3

    Solutions:

    x = - 2 + √22 / 3

    x = - 2 - √22 / 3
