A parent has 23

pieces of candy to divide up equally among 4

children. Since she cannot break the candy very easily, she decides she's going to hide a few pieces of candy to ensure that each child gets the same amount, but that she will hide as few as possible. How many pieces of candy does each child get and how many pieces are hidden?
