Matt has a rectangular garden that is 10 ft wide and 24 Ft long. He wants to build a fence from one corner to the opposite corner. How many feet of fence does Matt need?

    He needs 26 feet of fence.

    The diagonal of the rectangle forms the hypotenuse of a right triangle. The two legs would be the width of the rectangle, 10, and the length, 24:

    10²+24² = c²

    100+576 = c²

    676 = c²

    c = √676 = 26
