    Consecutive integers are 1 apart

    they are

    x, x+1, x+2

    sum is 3009

    x+x+1+x+2=3009

    3x+3=3009

    minus 3 both sides

    3x=3006

    divide both sides by 3

    x=1002

    the smallest is 1002

    1002

    The equation (x + 1) + (x + 2) + (x + 3) = 3009

    We do 1 + 2 + 3 = 6

    Subtract 3009 with 6 = 3003

    We have 3x = 3003

    Divide 3003 / 3 = 1001

    x = 1001

    Let's use our equation!

    1002 + 1003 + 1004 = 3009
