    First distribute 4 into the corresponding parenthesis.

    4x+12

    Then distribute 2 into the other corresponding parentheses.

    4x+18

    So together you get 4x+12=4x+18

    No we want to get all our variables on one side and our numbers on the other side.

    We can do this by combining like terms/

    First subtract 12 from both sides

    4x=4x+30

    Then subtract 4x from both sides

    0=30

    The equation is false
