Rate of change will be the difference in f (3) and f (8). solve for the 2 first:

    f (3) = 3²-5 (3) + 2 = - 4

    f (8) = 8²-5 (8) + 2 = 26

    than find the difference in f (3) - f (8) = - 4-26 = - 30
