    time = 2.48 seconds

    Step-by-step explanation:

    Given dа ta:

    distance = 100 foot

    Initial velocity = 0 because it was held and being released.

    acceleration is gravitational force

    gravitational force in feet per second = 32.2 ft/s²

    formula for distance is s = ut + (1/2) at² where s = distance, u = intial velocity, a = acceleration and t = time

    s = ut + (1/2) at²

    100 = 0 (t) + (1/2) (32.2) t²

    100 = 16.2t²

    100/16.2 = t²

    therefore t = 2.484

    t = 2.48 seconds (to 2 decimal places)
