    Convert percent to a decimal. 7.5% = 0.075

    multiply. 35 * 0.075 = 2.62

    35 * 0.075 = 2.63

    $35 + $2.63 = $37.63

Whenever you are calculating sales tax, just multiply the cost of the item by the tax (convert the percent to decimal).
