    70 pieces for each friend

    Step-by-step explanation:

    214 pieces of candy

if he wanted to keep 4 for himself, that would leave (214 - 4) = 210 pieces

    split between 3 friends ... 210/3 = 70 to each friend

Each friend would get 70 pieces of candy.

    Step-by-step explanation:

This is because since he wants to keep 4 pieces. That would take 4 away from the 214 pieces of candy he has. That would mean he has 210 for all 3 of his friends. If you want each of them to get equal, then divide it by 3. That would give you 70 pieces of candy. So therefore, each friend gets 70 pieces of candy. If you want to write it in an equation format it would be (214-4) / 3 = amount of candy each friend gets.
