Find the value of c so that (x - 3) is a factor of the polynomial p (x). p (x) = x4 - 3x2 + - 2x + c

    If x - 3 is a factor then p (3) = 0, so

    3^4 - 3 (3) ^2 - 2 (3) + c = 0

    48 + c = 0

    Answer c = - 48
