    Answer is 2. based on the choices A or B.

    x/5 = x - 8

    5 (x/5) = 5 (x-8) * to remove the denominator of 5, multiply both sides by 5.

    x = 5x - 40

    x - 5x = - 40

    -4x = - 40

    -4x / - 4 = - 40 / - 4

    x = 10

    to check

    x/5 = x - 8

    10/5 = 10-8

    2 = 2
