You brought 5 cakes to the school dance and you want to make sure there's enough cake for everyone. Here's a formula for this scenario: X=5y/a X = number of people at the dance Y=number of slices per cake A=number of slices each person will eat. Rewrite the formula to solve for the number of cakes you should order

    So we can multiply both sides by a and we get. X*a = 5y. Then we replace 5 with b because we need to find out how many cakes, we cant just assume its 5. So then it becomes X*a = b*y. Then we divide both sides by y and we get -

    Answer: b = (X*a) / y whereas b is the number of cakes.
