What is the value of x in the equation 6 (x + 1) - 5x = 8 + 2 (x - 1)

    6 (x+1) - 5x = 8 + 2 (x-1)

    6x + 6 - 5x = 8 + 2x - 2

    x + 6 = 6 + 2x

    -x - x

    6 = 6 + x

    -6 - 6

    0 = x
