An airplane takes 4 hours to travel 864 miles while flying against the wind. If the speed of the airplane on a windless day is 258 miles per hour, what is the speed of the wind?

    The speed of the wind is 42mph because if you divide the distance by the time you get the speed of the plane and then subtract it from the normal speed to see how much was reduced and that will be the amount the wind reduced it by.
