If eight apples cost 2.00 how many apples were purchased if the total cost was $4.50

    Set up a ratio:

    8/2.00 = X/4.50

    Cross multiply:

    (8 * 4.50) = 2.00x

    36 = 2x

    X = 36/2

    x = 18

    18 apples were bought for $4.50
