One card is chosen out of a deck of 52 cards. There are 13 Spades, Hearts, Diamonds and Clovers each. So 13 spades and 13 hearts makes 26 of the total. 26/52=0.5=50%

There is a 50-50 chance of a heart or spade being chosen.
