    24 miles a day.

    Step-by-step explanation:

He bikes 6 miles to school, plus the 8 miles to his friend's house, which is 14.

To go home, he bikes 10 miles directly home from his friend's house.

The path he takes forms a right triangle, where the path from Ashley's home to his own is the hypotenuse. To solve this, you have to use Pythagoras' theorem (a² + b² = c²), and the answer comes out to be 10.

So, you just add the 10 miles home to the 14 miles from earlier, and you get 24.
