    Corn Grits : Water

    1/4 : 1/2

    1/4 x 4 : 1/2 x 4

    1 : 2

    3/2 : 2 x 3/2

    1 1/2 : 3

So he will need 3 cup of water if he uses 1 1/2 cup of corns grits.
