Commission on the first ten suits: p=5%=0.05

    10 * 250 * 0.05 = 2500 * 0.05 = $125

    Commission on additional 3 suits:p=5+3=8%=0.08

    3 * 250 * 0.08 = 750 * 0.08 = $60

    In total: 125 + 60 = $185

    Answer: His commission was $185.
