Baileigh is using a piece of string to hang a painting on the wall. The back of the painting is diagrammed below.

What is the length of the string?

    We can use Pythagoras to find this out

    The length of each string would be:

    x^2 = 36^2 + 15^2

    x^2 = 1521

    x = √1521

    = 39

    Total length of the string = 39 + 39

    = 78 centimeters
