A box is the shape of a right rectangular prism. The box has a square base that is 6 inches wide. The box has a volume of 864 cubic inches. What is the length of one of the lateral edges?

    The formula for the volume of a rectangular prism is

    V=l*w*h where l=length, w=width and h=height

    Plug in the data we know (remember that since the base is a square, both the length and width are 6 inches)

    864=6*6*h

    864=36*h

    divide both sides by 36

    24=h

    Height=24inches

    Answer=24in
