The length of a rectangle is eight more than twice it's width, the perimeter is 96 feet. what are the dimensions of the rectangle?

    P = 2 (L + W)

    P = 96

    L = 2W + 8

    96 = 2 (2W + 8 + W)

    96 = 2 (3W + 8)

    96 = 6W + 16

    96 - 16 = 6W

    80 = 6W

    80/6 = W

    40/3 ... or 13 1/3 ft < = = width

    L = 2W + 8

    L = 2 (40/3) + 8

    L = 80/3 + 8

    L = 80/3 + 24/3

    L = 104/3 or 34 2/3 < = = length
