Quilt squares are cut on the diagonal to form triangular quilt pieces. the hypotenuse of the resulting triangles is 20 inches long. What is the side length of each piece?

    A²+b²=c²

    a and b are legs

    c=hyptonuse

    in a square, the legs/sides are same legnth

    a=b

    2a²=c²

    given

    hypotonuse=20=c

    2a²=20²

    2a²=400

    divide both sides by 2

    a²=200

    sqrt both sides

    a=10√2

    the legnth of one side is 10√2 in or aprox 14.14 in
