    3/8 (2x + 16) - 2 = 13

    3/8 (2x) + 2/8 (16) - 2 = 13

    6x/8 + 48/8 - 2 = 13

    6x/8 + 6 - 2 = 13

    6x/8 = 13 - 4

    6x/8 = 12

    6x = 12 x 8

    6x = 72

    x = 72/6 = 12
