12 students sit for an exam which has a maximum score of 100. The average of the 12 scores achieved by the students in the exam was 95. What is the minimum mark a student could have scored

    The minimum score a student can get can be calculated by assuming that all 11 students get a perfect score. Since average is the total score divided by number of students:

    95 = [11 * 100 + 1 * X] / 12

    12 * 95 = 11 * 100 + X

    X = 40

    Therefore the minimum mark is 40.
