To solve the equation 2sin (2x) = cosx, you should rewrite it as

    4sinxcosx=cosx

    Then 2*2Sin (x) Cos (x) = Cos (x)

    the Cos (x) 's cancel leaving

    4Sin (x) = 1

    Sin (x) = 1/4

    Arcsin (1/4) = 14.48 degrees
