A graph is translated according to the following rule. Describe the translation.

(x, y) → (x + 3, y)

The graph is translated three units to the left.

The graph is translated three units up.

The graph is translated three units to the right.

The graph is translated three units down.

    The graph would be translated 3 units to the right.

    This notation means to ADD 3 to each x value which would move everything horizontally in the positive direction (right)

    To move a graph c units to the right minus c from every x

    to move a graph c units to the left, add c to every x

    obviously we are adding 3 to every x

    moving the graph 3 units to the left
