    g ( - 6) = 7

    note that | - 4 | = | 4| = 4

Since the absolute value gives a measure of how far the value is from the origin and distance is always positive.

4 and - 4 are both 4 units from the origin

    g ( - 6) = | - 6 + 2| + 3 = | - 4| + 3 = 4 + 3 = 7
