Twenty four students will be divided into four equal size teams. Each student will count off, beginning with the number 1 as the 1st team. If Nate is the eleventh student to count off to which team number will he be assigned?

    If there are four groups and 24 students, that means there will be 6 students per group since 24 : 4 = 6. You then begin you count off: 1,2,3,4 ... until you get to eleven. The first 4 students are the first member in each of the 4 groups. This process repeats until the 8th student. Since 4 can't go in again to reach 11. Therefore, 9th student will then belong to group 1, the 10th student to group 2, and then Nate (11th student) will belong to group 3.
