You multiply the denominator by the whole number then add the numerator. example: 2 2/5 = 12/5

You see how many times the denominator can fit into the numerator, then that becomes a whole number and whatever's left over becomes the new numerator.

    For example: 7/5

5 goes into 7 once with a remainder of 2

1 and 2/5 would be your mixed number
