A driver was fined $20.00 plus $4.00 for every mile per hour over the speed limit of 55 mph. If the fine was $76.00, how fast was the driver going?

    69 mph. subtract the $20 from the $76 fine, and you get 56. divide that by four to see how many hours over, and you get 14. the speed limit is 55, and 55+14 is 69.
