    Convert both to improper fractions

    1 4/5 = (1*5 + 4) / 5 = (5+4) / 4 = 9/5

    12 1/3 = (12*3 + 1) / 3 = (36+1) / 3 = 37/3

    Find a common denominator - 15

    9/5 = 27/15

    37/3 = 185/15

    Add them together

    27/15 + 185/15 = 212/15

    So 212/15 Gallons is needed.
