    P = 2 (L + W)

    P = 14

    W = L - 5

    14 = 2 (L + L - 5)

    14 = 2 (2L - 5)

    14 = 4L - 10

    14 + 10 = 4L

    24 = 4L

    24/4 = L

    6 = L ... the length is 6 inches

    W = L - 5

    W = 6 - 5

    W = 1 < = = = the width is 1 inch
