    X = adult

    y = children

    53 (x+y=431)

    53x + 24y = 15390$

    53x+53y = 22,843

    subtract from

    53x+24y = 15,390

    29y = 7,453$

    y = 257

    53x + 24 (257) = 15,390

    53x + 6,168 = 15,390

    53x = 9,222

    x = 174
