    Equation, 17 a+120=9,300, where a is the adult ticket sales

    Total number of adult ticket sales=540

    Total number of kid ticket sales=560

    Step-by-step explanation:

    Step 1

    Express the number of tickets sold for each group of people;

    let adult ticket sales=a

    kids ticket sales=adult sales+20=a+20

    kids ticket sales=a+20

    Step 2

    Express the total amount of sales taken in;

    total amount = (price per adult ticket*number of adult ticket sales) + (price per kid ticket*number of kid ticket sales)

    where;

    total amount=9,300

    price per adult ticket=$11

    number of adult ticket sales=a

    price per kid ticket=$6

    number of kid ticket sales=a+20

    replacing;

    9,300 = (a*11) + (a+20) 6

    9,300=11 a+6 a+120

    9,300=17 a+120

    Equation, 17 a+120=9,300, where a is the adult ticket sales

    17 a=9,300-120

    17 a=9,180

    a=9,180/17=540

    a=540

    kid ticket sales=540+20=560

    Total number of adult ticket sales=540

    Total number of kid ticket sales=560
