The following data was collected on a cheetah. It ran ½ mile in 2/3 min, ¼ mile in 1/3 min, and ¾ mile in one minute.

1. Give one method that can be used to prove that the different rates for the cheetah's data are proportional or non-proportional.

2. Create an equation, a table, and a graph to show that the relationship for cheetah's data is proportional or non-proportional.

3. Explain to your peers how, the graph and table were valid in explaining proportionality or non-proportionality of the cheetah's data.

    1) You can divided all of the distances by the time. The result will be 3/4 in each case, therefore it is proportional.

    2) For the equation, you can multiply the time by 3/4 and it will equal the distance. You can put the values you have into a table and graph them to also show it is proportional.

    3) Since there is a constant factor between the two values, they are proportional.
