    Let's rewrite the mathematical expressions:

    3 1/6 = 3.166666667

    1 5/6 = 1.833333333

    Subtracting both expressions we have:

    3.166666667 - 1.833333333 = 1.727272727

    Answer:

Sean's ribbon is 1.727272727 in long than Fran's
