You and your brother are reading the same novel. You want to get ahead of him in the book, so you decide to read 30 minutes longer than your brother reads. There is a relationship between the number of minutes your brother reads, x, and the number of minutes you read, y. Write an equation for the number of minutes you read, y, when your brother reads x number of minutes.

    Y=x+30 because since you read 30 more minutes, h has to read 30 more too to catch up
